In our previous post, we discussed setting up Google My Business and Bing Places for Business. While those platforms are vital, there are additional listings where your business should appear to maximize visibility and attract more customers.

Apple Maps: The Often-Overlooked Listing

One of the lesser-known but highly important platforms is Apple Maps. Many users of Safari and iPhone default to Apple properties for their searches, and being listed on Apple Maps means your business can also be found through Siri searches. For businesses, this is a crucial opportunity to reach a broad audience of Apple users.

How to Get Listed on Apple Maps

  1. Create an Apple ID: If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to create an Apple account. While it helps to have an Apple device, it’s not required.
  2. Claim Your Business: Navigate to Apple Maps to claim your business. Follow the prompts to enter your information.
  3. Verify Your Business: Unlike Google and Bing, Apple uses a phone verification process. Be prepared to receive a call on the phone number associated with your business. Ensure this number matches the one listed in your Apple Maps profile.

Apple Maps also allows you to list your DUNS number and indicate if your business accepts Apple Pay, which can further enhance your profile and attract Apple users.

With Apple verified, my next suggestion is the Yellow Pages at SuperPages Get yourself listed for free. Be aware, they will try to get you to sign up for a paid listing.

Another easy listing is EntireWeb. EntireWeb feeds AOL, Yahoo and other networks. It is a valuable listing to keep current.

Lastly, verify your free listing on Yelp.

Maintain Consistency Across Listings

After claiming your business on major platforms, it’s essential to audit your online presence. Perform searches for your business name on multiple search engines and directories. Examine the top results and verify that the information is accurate and consistent across all listings. These initial results are often the first impression a potential customer has of your business, so ensuring accuracy is critical.

Why Consistency Matters

Inconsistent or missing information can confuse search engines and degrade your search rankings. Worse, it can create doubt in the minds of prospective customers. Take the time to update and verify your listings on all platforms, including smaller directories and review sites, to build trust and improve your search presence.

Final Tip

Your online presence is more than just your website. By ensuring your business is listed on Apple Maps, Google, Bing, and other directories, you’ll create a robust digital footprint that helps customers find you wherever they search.
